YA can drinks from straw!!!
I just started trying him on straw cup today and he made it!
He was able to drink from the straw a few times when i offered it to him. Actually i just bought the Combi straw cup last Saturday and it stated for babies 8 month old and above, but well, i decided to give it a try. And this smartie boy get the hang of it immediately! Though he choked a few times as well, needs some practice to master the skill.
Well done An An! Mama so proud of you! :)

YA's vaccination at 7.5mth old
Had his 3rd dose of Pneumococcal and 2nd dose of Hep B vaccine today.
PD checked on his development and commented that he achieves the milestones well:
- blaberring, his 1st word is "lai lai lai", instead of "papa" and "mama", maybe he heard too much of this when i always asked Zq to "lai lai lai"... haa
- sitting without support very well, he can sit and dance and shack his butt! must video this! a very hilarious sight!
- good fine motor skill, able to pick up very fine objects
As for his physical growth, he is 9.7kg and 76cm at 7 and half month old. Weight at 80 percentile and height is above 100 percentile! He definately inherit the tall genes from Dear.
As for solid taking, he still not that fancy over cereals & porridge. His favourite is Avocado (able to finish 1/2 of the whole fruit), and new found favourite: wholemeal bread! He even snatched it from me and started to self feed. Greedy boy.
He had done with most of the vaccinations, the next visit will on his 1 year old.

Zq able to self-sleep!
Well, i think beside his weaning on pacifier when he was about 20month, this is another significant achievement and im very happy that he able to make it! :)
It has been a routine that we have to "gei-gei" sleep beside him everynight when it's his bedtime. After changing his diaper, brush his teeth and read a bedtime story, he would expect Dear or me to sit beside him and "sleep together". I started to feel very tired over this, and he is a toddler now, should be able to self-soothe to sleep. He needs to learn to be more independent.
So i started to train him to self sleep. On his 1st nap, he cried and asked me not to leave the room. But i kept ensuring him that he's a big boy now and he can sleep by himself. He needs to be brave as he is very safe, his Mickey and Zhuzhu are with him. And he will able to see Mama on the 1st moment he wake up. Then i went out his room and closed the door. He weeped and stood at the doorside, kept open and closed the door softly, didn't dare to step out of the room. I kept quiet and observed. After about 20mins, i went into the room and told him the same thing, to assure him again, he climbed onto his bed and closed his eyes quite unwillingly and ultimately fall asleep.
And it's a breeze after which. He made it and able to self-sleep! :)
Though sometimes he would still give me the pitiful look, but i just returned with a bright smile and having strong confidence in him that he can do it. I am so happy that he able to self-sleep within such a short period. My next task is toilet-trained, and it's definately a very challenging one! Wish me GOOD LUCK! :)

Fun-filled morning!
Zq's school has a school-wide activity today and all the parents are invited to have participate in this. I am more than excited as this is Zq's 1st mass activity at school and i got a chance to take part with him and get to know more of his classmates & parents :)
The "country" of the month is Canada. So, the kids had the chance to make the pancakes and beat the Canadian drums! Zq was neither interested in the pancakes nor the drum. I could feel his excitement of me in the class with him, the 1st time!
Had a brief talk with the teachers and they told me Zq was a very sociable, clever and enthusiastic in learning. He would take the story books and cards to the teachers and asked them to read to him. Wow, im rather impressed with this. He really loves his school life!
We had a fun morning with delicious breakfast at school. And i get to know some parents as well. A cold but heartwarming morning :)
Playing the drum
Having breakfast with classmates
Doing some montessori work

2010!
Happy New Year!
This will be a "special" year for me as i will turn "3" in another 6months time. Well, don't look forward at all but i hope with the "3" comes along, i will grow wiser also. :)
Thinking about New Year resolutions, a few have popped up in my mind:
1) To be a better mum. This is actually my lifetime goal, but for the coming year when my boys will turn 3 & 1 year old. I hope i can do better in some aspects like train up their independence, teach them virtue and instill life value to them. Have more patience with them, spend more quality time with them.
2) To be a more independent wife. Though i have been improving lots on this aspect, but i feel that there's room for improvement. I need to be a stronger mum and able to make decisions myself most of the time so hubby can focus more on his career and assure that the family is well taken care of by me.
3) To achieve the "magical sum" of saving in our bank! With me as the financial comptroller, i think should be no problem!
4) To slim down. 56kg is my wish. Another 8kg to shed off!
5) To be a better daughter. To call home more often and starts writing letters and cards to them as my mama and papa would be very happy to receive these! :)
6) To cultivate a new hobby. I urge for some ME time and i believe this will make my life more fulfilling and interesting :)
I bet my resolutions are more or less the same every year. But i do hope i can achieve these. Saying & writing it down are effortless, so i must make sure i put all these into actions! And of course my greatest wish in 2010 is that my family is healthy and happy always.. :)
